Hixson is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer with advanced expertise in HVAC and hydronic heating/cooling systems for large-scale industrial and commercial facility projects. Join a collaborative, integrated team of architects, engineers, and project managers delivering innovative solutions on projects up to $500 million for nationally recognized clients.
Responsibilities- Lead mechanical engineering design for critical process air handling systems (GMP), laboratory air handling systems, ductwork, and hydronic systems (chillers, steam boilers, hot water boilers, cooling towers).
- Collaborate across disciplines to deliver coordinated, high-quality solutions.
- Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and budget estimates.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and guide best practices.
- Interface directly with clients and internal project teams.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Participate in the design and integration of mechanical utilities and plumbing systems.
- BSME, BSMET, BSAE or related degree required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of hands‑on design experience in HVAC systems, process cooling/heating, and mechanical utilities
- Proven experience in boiler and chiller central plant design
- Strong understanding of HVAC controls systems and integration
