Job Description
tekWorx is the leading supplier of energy optimization solutions for chiller and boiler systems in industrial, institutional and commercial sites. Our growth and success has opened the opportunity for an individual to function as the lead technical representative for these large‑scale HVAC projects.
This role is ideal for a hands‑on engineer who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, takes initiative in the field, and has a strong interest in how mechanical systems, controls and data interact to drive energy performance.
Responsibilities- Perform pre‑sale and post‑award site assessments, including mechanical, operational and control system evaluations
- Collect and analyze system data to identify performance gaps, control issues and optimisation opportunities
- Develop project implementation plans, scopes of work and budgetary estimates
- Lead field start‑up and commissioning activities to ensure systems operate per design intent and specifications
- Troubleshoot mechanical, controls and instrumentation issues during commissioning and live operation
- Provide on‑site and remote client training on system operation, maintenance and diagnostics
- Support post‑installation measurement, verification and performance optimisation
- Act as a technical liaison between clients, internal engineering teams and integration partners
- B.S. in Engineering or Associate degree in mechanical or electrical/electronic technology with 2 years related experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Industrial and/or commercial HVAC: central plants, mechanical systems
- Building automation systems and controls
- Industrial control systems: building automation, PLC, VFDs and instrumentation
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to diagnose issues across mechanical systems, controls and sensors
- Proactive, self‑directed approach to identifying and resolving problems in the field
- Ability to communicate technical material to a non‑technical audience
- Able to travel domestically up to 25‑30 % of the time (M‑F only)
- Familiarity with:
- Allen‑Bradley PLCs
- Niagara Framework
- Field instrumentation and sensors (flow, pressure, temperature, power)
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Understanding of motors and pumping systems
- Chiller plant hydronics knowledge
