Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon business is recruiting Electrical Engineering Co‑ops for the Spring 2026 term (8/24/2026 – 12/11/2026) in Cincinnati, OH.
Responsibilities- Contribute to projects developing electrical and electromechanical surgical instruments, surgical robotics, operating room equipment, or automated data acquisition systems.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art tools for testing, experimentation, and validation to support product design.
- Support team members in design, experiments, data acquisition, analysis, troubleshooting, assembly, and fabrication of prototypes and equipment.
- Gain experience in concept generation, circuit design, firmware and software development, PCB design, system prototyping, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Assist in laboratory testing, data interpretation, and recommend next steps.
- Rotate through multiple 12‑week assignments, progressing responsibilities each term.
- Enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- At least sophomore year at the start of the co‑op (Aug
2026) with graduation after Dec
2026. - Minimum GPA 3.0.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. for the full duration of the co‑op.
- Leadership, campus program participation, or community service experience.
- Interest in the medical device industry.
- Basic knowledge of analog hardware design, embedded systems, circuit troubleshooting, and use of laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.) and scripting languages (MATLAB, Python).
Preferred:
- Statistical analysis / design of experiments (Minitab, SAS, R).
- Risk management, manufacturing‑process familiarity.
- Schematic capture and PCB design (Altium, Cadence, KiCad).
- Simulation (LTSpice) and embedded coding in C/C++, VHDL/Verilog.
- LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python for test automation.
- Competitive wage ($23–$51.50 per hour, based on program year and experience).
- Housing assistance stipend for non‑local students living >50 miles from site.
