Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of BIM Coordinators focused on mechanical piping systems.
- Assign workload and monitor project staffing to maintain schedule and production goals.
- Establish and enforce BIM standards, modeling practices, and coordination procedures across all piping projects.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to coordinators and project teams.
- Conduct quality control reviews of models, spool drawings, installation drawings, and coordination deliverables.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance development of BIM personnel.
- Coordinate department priorities with VDC Leadership, Project Coordinators, and Spooling Department
- Perform hands-on BIM coordination for mechanical piping systems including HVAC piping, hydronic systems, process piping, plumbing, and specialty piping systems.
- Develop and maintain coordinated 3D models using Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM/VDC software platforms.
- Participate in coordination meetings with general contractors, engineers, architects, and other trades.
- Identify and resolve clashes, constructability concerns, access conflicts, and installation sequencing issues.
- Produce fabrication-ready drawings, spool sheets, installation drawings, hanger layouts, and field coordination documents.
- Support field and fabrication teams with model-based problem solving and installation planning.
- Assist in developing project workflows that improve productivity, prefabrication opportunities, and overall project efficiency.
- Maintain company BIM libraries, templates, standards, and workflows for mechanical piping systems.
- Ensure BIM deliverables comply with project specifications, contract requirements, and coordination schedules.
- Support integration between BIM platforms, fabrication software, and downstream manufacturing processes.
- Assist in implementing new BIM technologies, automation tools, and process improvements.
- Coordinate with detailing, fabrication, and Project Coordination teams to maximize prefabrication and installation efficiency.
- Any other assigned responsibilities.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in mechanical piping detailing, BIM coordination, or VDC leadership.
- Strong understanding of mechanical piping systems, fabrication methods, and construction practices.
- Advanced proficiency in:
- Autodesk Revit
- Navisworks Manage
- BIM/VDC coordination workflows
- Experience with fabrication software platforms such as:
- Autodesk Fabrication CADmep
- Revit Fabrication Parts
- Stratus (preferred, but not required)
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and mechanical piping isometrics.
- Strong knowledge of clash detection, coordination processes, and constructability review.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in industrial, healthcare, mission critical, pharmaceutical, or large commercial construction projects.
- Experience supporting prefabrication and modular construction workflows.
- Understanding of field installation practices and shop fabrication operations.
- Knowledge of laser scanning, point cloud integration, and model-based layout technologies.
- OSHA safety awareness and construction site experience (OHSA 10 Required)

- Capable of climbing off/on equipment and ladders
- Ability to walk job site
- Valid Driver's License
