Operations Manager, Mechanical Engineer

Based in Northern Cincinnati, Hi‑Tek Manufacturing is family‑owned and has been in business for 45 years, operating a state‑of‑the‑art 200,000 sq. ft. facility. Because of their focus on customer service and quality standards, they have grown to provide a full scope of manufacturing services for the gas turbine and aerospace industries. Hi‑Tek sets the industry standard by providing highly engineered, complex components and assemblies for aircraft engines, airframes, and land‑based industrial gas turbines.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOINGReporting to the Vice President of Engineering, and indirectly reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Engineer will own the following essential functions:
- Partner closely with the Vice President and Maintenance Manager to define strategic objectives and drive continuous improvement in facility performance and reliability.
- Plan, design, and implement facility upgrades, renovations, and capital improvement projects, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and building regulations, promoting a culture of safety and regulatory adherence.
- Manage and coordinate contractors, vendors, and specialized service providers, ensuring work is completed to engineering specifications, within budget, and on schedule.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize building systems performance, leveraging data to improve efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle costs.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive reports on facility operations, system performance, maintenance metrics, and project status to leadership.
- Conduct routine and preventive facility inspections to identify deficiencies, assess risks, and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical infrastructure systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, and plumbing systems.
- Design and implement facility layout modifications and space utilisation improvements to support production, workflow efficiency, and future growth.
- Respond to and manage facility‑related emergencies, providing rapid technical assessment and coordinating corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of maintenance activities, engineering changes, system upgrades, and compliance records.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, operations, and other departments to ensure facility systems effectively support business objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a closely related discipline preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading and executing complex projects with strong project management proficiency.
- Exceptional problem‑solving capabilities with a proactive, solution‑driven mindset.
- Highly effective communicator with outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Advanced experience with CAD software and comprehensive facilities design processes.
- Proven track record in energy management, efficiency optimisation, and conservation strategies.
- In‑depth knowledge of industry safety standards, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in facilities management or engineering roles.
- Perform under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related operational software tools.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems within commercial/industrial environments.
- Superior analytical, organisational, and multitasking abilities in fast‑paced settings.
- Skilled in reading, interpreting, and applying blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership excellence with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams.
- Highly self‑motivated with a strong sense of ownership, consistently taking initiative to meet and exceed objectives with minimal supervision.
- Committed to maintaining a strong safety‑first mindset, proactively identifying risks and ensuring adherence to safety standards at all times.
- Exhibits a high level of pride and accountability in work, delivering quality results with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
