Job Description Summary
We are seeking a Senior Thermodynamic Performance Engineer to lead the analysis, prediction, and optimization of engine thermodynamic performance across the full operating envelope. In this role, you will be a technical leader for cycle performance, fuel efficiency, and operating margins, partnering closely with design, controls, test, and services teams.
You will own key performance models and datasets, drive test-to-model correlation, and provide clear, data-driven recommendations that improve safety, reliability, fuel burn, and operability.
At GE Aerospace, we believe the world works better when it flies. We are a world-leading provider of jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft. Working at GE Aerospace means you are bringing your unique perspective, innovative spirit, drive, and curiosity to a collaborative and diverse team. It means that if you have ideas, we will listen.

If this sounds exciting to you and you have prior experience in Jet Engine Performance or related disciplines, we look forward to speaking with you.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and own cycle and performance models (steady-state and transient) for engines across the operating envelope
- Predict thrust/power, fuel flow, temperatures, pressures, and margins versus altitude, Mach, and mission conditions
- Plan and support engine performance testing, including defining test matrices and key performance points
- Correlate test data to models, perform uncertainty analysis, and update maps/models based on results
- Create and refine component maps and limits (fan/compressor/turbine maps, operating lines, surge and temperature margins)
- Collaborate with controls engineers on schedules (VGV, bleeds, fuel flow) to balance performance, operability, and hardware life
- Analyze fleet and in-service performance data to identify trends, degradation, and improvement opportunities
- Lead performance trade studies and optimization for efficiency, fuel burn, and operating margins
- Support certification and customer programs with validated performance data and technical justifications
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and drive best practices in thermodynamic performance
- Work cross-functionally with design, aero, mechanical, systems, test, and services teams to ensure performance requirements are met
- Improve gas turbine thermodynamic and operability modeling techniques
- Engage in research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies to improve performance, operability, and cost
- Develop strong relationships with external customers and partners
- Document technical data and results in accordance with engineering policies and procedures
- Communicate significant technical issues, risks, or developments in a timely manner
- Participate in organizational initiatives and technical/program reviews
- Support technical program managers and mentor less experienced engineers
- Make decisions within a defined framework and engage senior team members on complex issues
- Contribute independently to projects while supporting senior engineers in advancing performance related technologies
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 8 years' experience related to Aircraft Engine Performance or related discipline.
- GE Aerospace will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with focus on thermofluids or turbo machinery.
