Overview
The Next Generation Products (NGP) organization is responsible for the design, analysis, integration, and support of future military engine products. The NGP Lead Design Engineer owns the design, development, and qualification of advanced military products, specifically engine externals / configurations components. The engineer is responsible for executing technical design tasks including analysis and manufacturing support of assigned hardware in addition to program management of hardware cost, weight, and schedule deliverables.
This position reports to an engineering manager in Evendale, OH with the opportunity to integrate with various internal and external engineering disciplines.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering
- Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance.
- Experience with configurations design
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
