Job Description Summary

Join us to define what’s next in aerospace. As Senior Manager, Value Engineering, you’ll lead high‑impact design and manufacturing initiatives that unlock customer value, enhance producibility and quality, and drive cost out—without compromise. If you love connecting functional analysis to real outcomes, guiding cross‑functional teams from concept to implementation, and scaling a world‑class value engineering program, this is your seat at the table.

Ready to lead value at scale? If you’re a CVS or seasoned value engineer who thrives at the intersection of customer value, elegant design, and lean operations—and you’re energized by coaching teams and landing change—let’s talk. This position requires up to 25% travel.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and/or coach high‑energy VE events from end to end: facilitate the full 8‑phase VE methodology inclusive of the job plan, function analysis and FAST diagrams through to detailed Value Improvement Proposals (VIPs) and implementation, bringing teams and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Build and scale the VE system: in partnership with Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Product Operations, create, standardize, and deploy tools, methods, and playbooks that make value engineering a durable capability—across programs and sites.
  • Tie VE directly to launch success: connect high‑value concepts to APQP execution so the highest‑impact changes land in production—prioritizing Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Be the connective tissue: develop trusted relationships with Product Engineering, Product Leadership, Sales, and Supply Chain to align value, feasibility, and speed.
  • Coach, elevate, and multiply impact: mentor teams in functional thinking, VE methods, and lean fundamentals, and role‑model daily management and continuous improvement.
  • Operate on a proven lean backbone: drive projects leveraging our FLIGHT DECK (lean) fundamentals, streamlining flow and eliminating waste to accelerate value realization.
What Success Looks Like
  • A robust pipeline of value‑driven design changes.
  • Clear, repeatable VE standards and tools adopted across teams.
  • VE ideas integrated into APQP with visible SQDC results.
  • Engaged, capable teams that can run VE independently.
  • Tangible quality, lead‑time, and cost improvements you can point to.
Why Is This Role Different
  • Build a lasting system: this isn’t one‑and‑done kaizens—you’ll architect and scale a VE ecosystem that endures.
  • Big‑stage impact: your work ties directly to program performance and customer outcomes.
  • Growth and visibility: you’ll work cross‑functionally with senior leaders and help shape how we design and produce the next generation of aerospace products.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of design engineering, product planning, or manufacturing experience.
  • Certified Value Specialist (CVS) certification by SAVE International.
Desired Characteristics
  • 10+ years’ experience in design engineering, product planning, or manufacturing.
  • Aerospace experience.
  • Familiarity with lean operating systems and experience driving results across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Experience in engineering‑driven, long‑cycle development and manufacturing environments.
  • Proven influencer and team player with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed.
  • Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision‑maker, collaborative.
  • Problem solver: analytical‑minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker.
