We are seeking a driven, well-organized, and client-focused Senior Structural Engineering Professional to join our team in Cincinnati, OH. You will collaborate closely with architects and structural engineers, lead structural engineering teams from Concept Design through Construction, and provide input to Jacobs Architecture Subject Matter Experts as they develop feasibility studies, concept designs, and masterplans. You will work directly with clients and be responsible for building-code compliance, construction detailing, and coordinating with in-house engineering disciplines.

You can continue beyond the engineering phase to assist with permitting efforts and construction activities. Our Engineer of Record (EOR) will typically sign off on the construction we engineer for.

• Collaborate closely with architects and structural engineers; lead structural engineering teams from Concept Design through Construction.
• Provide structural engineering input to Architecture SMEs during feasibility studies, concept designs, and masterplans.
• Direct client-facing work with a strong grasp of building codes, best practices, and construction detailing.
• Take structural concepts through construction documentation and coordinate with architecture and other in-house disciplines.
• Assist with permitting efforts and construction activities beyond the engineering phase.
• Work with our Engineer of Record (EOR) who will typically sign off on the projects we engineer.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering school.
• Minimum of 8 years of applicable professional experience.
• Professional Engineering license in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
• Experience organizing and leading a structural team through project execution processes, including Concept Design, Basis of Design, Detail Design, Procurement, and Construction Support.
• Knowledge and experience in the design process, construction documentation, construction administration, materials and methods of construction, and model building codes.
• Advanced understanding of structural engineering design (wind, seismic, thermal, and vibration analyses) and its interaction with architecture and civil engineering.
• Experience performing construction administration activities (RFIs, submittals, field observation reports, punch lists).
• Willingness to work remotely and engage virtually with team members in different geographic locations.
• United States citizen.
• Focus on Life Sciences projects, including Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Light Industrial, and Light Chemical.

• Master’s degree from an accredited engineering school (preferred).
• Involvement in professional and/or community associations.
• Ability to contribute to development of new ideas, techniques, and standards.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and coordinate with engineering disciplines and specialty consultants; work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to perform quality checks or accept and implement quality checks by others.
• Experience supervising the work of other design professionals.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including client presentation, writing, and listening.
• Proficiency in 3-D engineering design/modeling and software (Revit, STAAD, RISA, and/or RAM).
• Proficiency with MS Office, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam Revu.
