Job Description SummaryThe Safety Management Systems (SMS), Global Standardization team is responsible for providing guidance and expertise to the business regarding the four ICAO components of SMS. This role will be based within the Safety Assurance pillar and will work very closely with the Risk Management, Policy and Promotion teams.
Our primary responsibility is to support the entire business in its SMS maturity journey. The successful candidate shall build trust and relationships, learn and develop best practices, be open to feedback, and execute on commitments.
This role requires high levels of autonomy but will be guided by experienced team members and training. The job involves modifying existing procedures to meet regulations and best practices.
Projects will be delivered using GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating model, employing problem solving, action planning, and bowler metric reporting.
Roles and Responsibilities- Understand SMS theory, regulation, and industry best practices to design and implement SMS methodologies.
- Identify product safety hazards and develop risk mitigation strategies, utilizing human factors principles to improve design and processes.
- Possess specialized SMS knowledge and influence strategic development within the area of responsibility.
- Interpret complex business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Use high judgment to make decisions and handle complex problems related to operations, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
- Analyze multiple data sources to detect trends, tell stories, and recommend risk reduction strategies.
- Lead cross-functional teams and complex projects.
- Communicate complex concepts, influence opinions, and guide others to consider different perspectives.
- Travel approximately 15% for Gemba visits at internal, customer, and supplier locations.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience with SMS principles, Quality, Engineering, Aerospace Design, Production, Overhaul, & Product Safety.
- Master's degree in engineering.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze large data sets.
- Solution-oriented mindset.
- Experience leading complex programs/projects.
- Good project management skills.
