We’re hiring a Controls Engineer to design, program, and support control systems for custom industrial equipment. This role is highly hands‑on and spans the full project lifecycle—from concept and build through startup and customer acceptance. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, machine integration, and seeing real‑world results of their work.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and program PLC & HMI systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens)
- Support electrical controls design (schematics, panel layouts, documentation)
- Debug, test, and support machines during build, runoff, and startup
- Collaborate with Engineering, PMs, Manufacturing, Electricians, and Customers
- Troubleshoot controls issues in both manufacturing and field environments
- Create BOMs and assist with component selection
- Research and implement new controls technologies and improvements
- 2‑5 years of Controls Engineering experience (no new grads)
- Experience with PLC/HMI programming and industrial controls systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Allen‑Bradley and/or Siemens platforms
- Custom machinery or capital equipment
- Startup, commissioning, or field service work
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical (or similar)
- Systems Thinker – understands how controls, mechanical, and electrical systems interact
- Strong Troubleshooter – logical and effective during debug/startup
- Ownership Mindset – accountable from design through customer acceptance
- Collaborative Communicator – works well across teams and with customers
- Adaptable & Organized – handles shifting priorities while meeting deadlines
Office‑based with regular time in the shop/manufacturing environment. Occasional physical activity (walking floor, bending, stairs).
