Role Description

Arcadis is looking for an experienced Senior Hydraulic Modeler with strong technical leadership and project delivery experience to join our Resilience Water Team.

Accountabilities

The role will leverage strong leadership skills and technical expertise to support project teams in developing water distribution system models and comprehensive water system master plans. The candidate will perform a range of engineering activities related to hydraulics, including pumping evaluations, flow test studies, water quality investigations, system planning, and the development of hydraulic and water quality models, as well as feasibility studies.

Key responsibilities include leading distribution system analyses through development, calibration, and application of hydraulic models; applying data analytics and GIS tools to support project execution; and serving as a senior technical resource to provide modeling-based insights for existing and proposed system improvements. The role also involves leading the preparation, review, and quality assurance of technical reports, memoranda, and master planning deliverables to ensure high-quality, client‑ready outputs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead client coordination and presentations, communicate technical findings to diverse stakeholders, and support trusted advisor relationships with clients.
  • Support or lead scope development, fee estimation, and technical approach definition for proposals and pursuits.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.
  • Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by regularly participating with industry associations, attending workshops, making presentations, and reviewing professional publications.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and quality oversight to junior engineers and modelers; manage or support multiple concurrent projects, including task delivery, coordination, budget awareness, and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in hydraulic modeling, water system planning, or related engineering work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related engineering field and a PE license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Hydraulic modeling and engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies, and modeling of water distribution systems; additional experience with wastewater collection system modeling, water quality modeling, pump station evaluation, storage analysis, or transient evaluations.
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm, municipality, or other closely related work and serving as a task lead or project manager on water system planning or modeling projects.
  • Other related modeling software experience (e.g. Info Works, Hammer, Aqua Twin, etc.). Programming using Python or equivalent languages.
Travel

Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, and other reasons depending on project staffing needs.

Benefits & Compensation

The salary range for this position is $98,000 - $168,000, based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location. Benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions include medical, dental, and vision; EAP; 401(k); STD; LTD; AD&D; life insurance; paid parental leave; reward & recognition program; optional wellbeing benefits; adoption assistance; and tuition reimbursement. There are nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year.
