The Industrial Application Development (IAD) Engineer supports Equistar’s polyethylene, polypropylene and specialties businesses by developing new or modified applications for selected industrial marketing segments. Key responsibilities include gathering market intelligence from customers and brand owners, developing new packaging structures, and supporting commercialisation of Equistar polymers in new applications. The primary focus is on business growth in the healthcare, food packaging, and infrastructure industries.

The IAD Engineer provides critical application information to support development programmes and offers guidance for target applications. This engineer is recognized as a technical expert in the markets, providing direction to R&D groups, the Industrial Market Manager, and Sales, with expertise in market, product/resin requirements, and application processes/equipment.

• Possesses a deep and broad understanding of key technologies and applications in the industrial market segments, using these skills to drive application development activities.
• Understands the responsibilities of key cross‑functional groups and uses this knowledge to drive application development quickly.
• Understands the long‑term strategic vision for the company, leading efforts to translate and integrate it into objectives and action plans, and driving resource/equipment selection.
• Provides strategic leadership in the identification, development, and implementation of tools, systems, and processes to improve technical service, application development, and project management effectiveness.
• Understands customer, market, and industry trends, facilitating group interaction with other cross‑functional organisations to frame value‑added opportunities.
• Drives and manages teamwork and collaboration within the group while fostering effective communication across functions and aligning resources to meet business needs.
• Drives improvement and development of direct reports, assisting in hiring and training, and empowering employees to make decisions.
• Uses financial analysis and project management skills to advance product and application development projects.
• Leads change initiatives, challenges the status quo, and influences management as necessary.
• Requires approximately 30% travel, primarily within the US, Canada and Mexico.

• University technical degree.
• Minimum eight years of industry experience with preferred experience in the PP/PE film, blow‑moulding, and injection‑moulding industries.
• Strong leadership, technological orientation, communication, situational management, managerial agility, systemic thinking and planning skills are essential.
• Strong influencing skills, managerial courage, and a broad perspective are also required.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, industry experts, and key industry associations in target markets.
• Understanding of LYB’s long‑term strategy, plans, objectives, and key profitability drivers in each market segment.

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Chemistry.
• Exposure to LYB Polymers business preferred.
