Compensation: $75,000–$90,000 annually
Travel: Occasional travel to project sites and the Columbus, OH office

Supervises: Mechanical Piping BIM Coordinators and Detailers
About the RoleOur client, a leading mechanical construction and fabrication organization, is seeking an experienced BIM Coordinator – Mechanical Piping to bridge BIM technology, field execution, and fabrication operations.
This leadership role combines hands‑on BIM coordination with team management, helping drive high-quality mechanical piping installations through coordinated modeling, fabrication readiness, and cross‑functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is an experienced BIM professional with a strong background in mechanical piping systems, constructability, and prefabrication workflows.
What You'll Do- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of BIM Coordinators and Detailers focused on mechanical piping systems.
- Assign workloads and monitor project staffing to meet production schedules and project milestones.
- Establish and enforce BIM standards, modeling practices, and coordination procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to project teams.
- Conduct quality control reviews of coordinated models, spool drawings, installation drawings, and fabrication deliverables.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development of BIM personnel.
- Coordinate priorities with VDC Leadership, Project Coordinators, and the Spooling Department.
- Develop and maintain coordinated 3D models using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, and other BIM platforms.
- Perform BIM coordination for HVAC piping, hydronic systems, plumbing, process piping, and specialty piping systems.
- Participate in coordination meetings with contractors, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
- Identify and resolve clashes, constructability issues, access conflicts, and installation sequencing challenges.
- Produce fabrication-ready drawings, spool sheets, hanger layouts, installation drawings, and field coordination documents.
- Support fabrication and field teams through model-based problem solving and installation planning.
- Develop workflows that improve productivity, prefabrication opportunities, and project efficiency.
- Maintain BIM libraries, templates, standards, and mechanical piping workflows.
- Ensure all BIM deliverables comply with project specifications, schedules, and contract requirements.
- Support integration between BIM platforms, fabrication software, and downstream manufacturing processes.
- Assist with implementation of new BIM technologies, automation tools, and process improvements.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

- 5–10 years of experience in mechanical piping detailing, BIM coordination, or VDC leadership.
- Strong understanding of mechanical piping systems, fabrication methods, and construction practices.
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
- Advanced proficiency with Navisworks Manage.
- Strong knowledge of BIM/VDC coordination workflows.
- Experience developing and maintaining coordinated 3D models.
- Experience coordinating HVAC piping, hydronic, plumbing, process piping, or specialty piping systems.
- Strong experience with clash detection, constructability reviews, and coordination processes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and piping isometric drawings.
- Experience producing fabrication-ready drawings, spool sheets, hanger layouts, installation drawings, and coordination documents.
- Experience conducting quality control reviews of BIM deliverables.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- OSHA 10 certification required.
