Senior Electrical Engineer, R&D

We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our handheld medical devices business in Cincinnati, OH. The role will work a Flex/Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week on-site and may involve up to 20% travel. Relocation assistance is available to qualified candidates.

• Implement and coordinate engineering changes to address electrical hardware and software aspects of Ethicon’s capital systems and handheld devices.
• Lead and support field root‑cause investigations and resolutions, including gap analysis, production troubleshooting, and process/product validation.
• Develop strong partnerships with multidisciplinary leaders and suppliers to drive alignment, prioritize, and complete joint projects.
• Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO, MDR) and Ethicon policy and procedure requirements.
• Guarantee the safety and critical performance of commercial products in accordance with applicable electrical safety standards for medical devices.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within R&D.
• Proficiency in translating high-level customer needs into technical requirements and analyzing trade‑offs and business impacts.
• Experience with embedded electrical design and strong electrical analysis skills.
• Knowledge of root‑cause analysis, verification/validation testing, and creating test protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to debug and test electrical systems using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers.
• Results‑driven with the ability to work across organizational boundaries.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience leading projects and managing risks.
• Experience with in a medical device or other highly regulated industry.
• Familiarity with IEC 60601 and other medical device electrical safety standards (preferred).
• Experience designing prototypes, simulating, and rapidly testing them (preferred).
• Experience solving technical manufacturing issues (preferred).
• Knowledge of programming languages such as LabVIEW, C, C++, Python (preferred).
• Experience applying Agile methodology in daily activities (preferred).

• Base salary range: $92,000 – $.
• Retirement plans: company‑consolidated pension and 401(k) savings plan.
