Additive Manufacturing Co-Op
This Co-Op would work with the Add Up engineering team to learn and refine skill sets like material testing/development, design for additive manufacturing, and general problem solving and apply them to real projects that utilize Laser Powder Bed Fusion. They would regularly work on project-specific material characterization as well as a short capstone project in their downtime.
Degree ProgramMust be pursuing a 4-year degree in materials, mechanical, or metallurgical engineering (or equivalent) and has completed at least 1-3 years of that degree program.
CourseworkRequired:
Introduction to Materials (Structures/Properties of Materials), Engineering Math/Calculus 1, Introduction to Chemistry, and a laboratory class (all of these or equivalent). Desired:
Material Testing Principles/Lab, Metallography, Physics, Thermodynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Basic Design Principles.
- Metallography and optical microscopy
- Material testing including tensile, hardness, roughness, microstructure, etc.
- Good written/oral communication skills
- Additive manufacturing experience
- Traditional manufacturing experience
- Welding experience
- Hand tools
- Design principles (DFM/DFAM)
- Solid Works or equivalent
- Dimensional testing experience (calipers, micrometers, blue light scanning)
- Technical presentations/communication
- US Citizen
