Senior Mechanical Engineer
An engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its mechanical team, focusing on the design, planning, and execution of large-scale utility generation and distribution projects. These projects serve industrial facilities, hospitals, universities, campuses, and district energy systems. You will provide technical leadership, project management, and engineering expertise from concept through commissioning. This onsite role can be based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with additional locations noted below.
Full time, onsite, with occasional field work on active construction sites.
$115,000 to $173,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus, depending on experience.
What You'll DoYou will prepare engineering documents, calculations, and equipment specifications to meet project requirements and applicable codes, performing mechanical engineering calculations and technical analyses. You will review and approve utility system and equipment selections and drawing submittals, and lead equipment procurement activities for utility and energy projects.
You will manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and engineering resources, driving projects to successful completion while maintaining quality and client satisfaction. You will coordinate with architectural, electrical, civil, and structural disciplines, provide technical leadership and direction to project teams and subconsultants, and mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
You will develop campus utility master plans and technical reports, participate in client meetings and industry events, and assist with project cost estimating and planning activities.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or willingness to pursue licensure
- 10 or more years of professional engineering experience
- Demonstrated expertise in utility generation and distribution system design
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience developing technical reports and campus utility master plans
- Cost estimating experience
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future sponsorship
- Experience with infrastructure projects or plant operations
- Experience coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines
- Experience mentoring junior engineering staff
- Salary of $115,000 to $173,000 per year, plus annual bonus eligibility, depending on experience
