Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. Ethicon Surgical Technologies combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation.

Formerly called Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago, as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery. As an Engineering & Data Science co-op in the R&D business, you will have the opportunity to:

• Perform analysis of structured and unstructured surgical data sets, uncovering insights for Robotics, Handheld Instruments, or Digital Products R&D engineering teams.
• Contribute to product conceptualization efforts for brand new surgical tools and platforms.
• Write software that enables collaborative data analysis and ensure data quality.
• Develop and carry out mechanical, electrical, and biological tissue laboratory experiments.
