OverviewThe Loan Payment Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely servicing of various types of loans (including consumer, indirect, mortgage, and commercial), interacting with members and third-party vendors to resolve complex loan-related issues and properly applying payments, performing adjustments, and performing loan maintenance.
Essential Responsibilities- Educate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues regarding loans, including assisting with escalated calls regarding consumer loans, indirect loans, mortgage loans, and commercial loans
- Assist internal team members with loan-related issues via chat and email
- Make daily outbound calls to members regarding their proof of insurance discrepancies and returned documents
- Make outbound calls to members and third-party vendors regarding payoff requests and payoff discrepancies
- Perform loan maintenance tasks
- Accurately process or forward Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) Insurance and total loss payments
- Apply deposit checks accurately while maintaining compliance regulations
- Perform complex payment posting and adjustments to serviced loans
- Maintain a thorough understanding of loan accruals, receivables, fee types and how they affect loan types to understand how payment adjustments will impact the loan
- Process disbursements
- Balance the Loan Operations General Ledger
- Post multifaceted payments to correct errors
- Monitor loan maintenance reports to identify exceptions or errors
- Post and correct transactions in a timely manner
- Monitor commercial insurance to ensure compliance with proof of insurance requirements for business loans
- Perform other duties to support the department as necessary
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two years of customer service experience required
- Three years of experience with consumer or mortgage loans required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deliver an impactful and positive member experience
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to thoroughly research transaction histories
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to gain proficiency in other credit union systems
