Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine seeks a Business Manager Finance to oversee financial planning, analysis, and resource optimization for the College of Medicine and UC Physicians, Inc. The role supports departmental budgeting, variance reporting, and financial decision‑making, and may involve supervising staff.
Essential Functions- Manage financial activities of a large clinical department with significant income generation.
- Support compliance activities, including research and management of an active clinical trials program and billing.
- Monitor and manage UC Physicians, Inc. provider compensation activities.
- Participate in annual budget preparation.
- Provide financial analysis for monthly variance reporting.
- Perform budget analysis and assist in developing budgetary forecasts.
- Prepare and assist in budget‑related statistical analysis, estimates, and financial reports.
- Support College of Medicine effort reporting.
- Provide ad hoc financial reports.
- Offer direct or indirect supervision of exempt and non‑exempt staff (hiring, performance evaluation, disciplinary action, time‑off approval).
- Perform related duties as needed; this description may change over time.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Alternatively, nine (9) years of relevant work experience or specialized training may satisfy the education requirement.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience in financial management and analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in a medical physician group, medical school, university, research organization, or healthcare organization.
- Experience in accounting, finance, or analytics.
- Ability to craft clear reports, analyses, emails, and presentations that convey financial insights and recommendations.
- Skill in articulating complex financial concepts in a simple, understandable manner during meetings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks within deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for document creation, data analysis, and presentation design.
- Office environment; no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
