Consumer Credit Loan Specialist

Job Overview

Consumer Credit Loan Specialist – responsible for pre‑underwriting and processing of consumer equity and non‑equity loan applications, ensuring compliance, risk management, and superior customer service.

• Review and validate underwriting stipulations for consumer lending.
• Collect, evaluate and analyze loan documentation (income, tax returns, vendor documents, etc.).
• Manage the loan file pipeline, update systems, and meet SLA deadlines.
• Provide clear communication to customers via phone, email, and other channels.
• Escalate and resolve issues with internal departments.
• Act as a trusted advisor, educating customers and bankers.
• Mentor and train less experienced loan specialists.
• Support departmental projects and procedure updates.
• Track call logs and support documentation.
• Ensure accurate loan data in processing and underwriting systems.

• Minimum 3 years of consumer lending experience in processing or customer service.
• In‑depth knowledge of loan products, guidelines, and underwriting procedures.
• Understanding of processing, underwriting, and closing systems.
• Proven ability to manage a loan pipeline.
• Strong analytical, leadership, organization, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Proficient with computer systems and loan application platforms.
• Valid S.A.F.E. Act registration required istration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) is mandatory.
