Overview
The primary role of the Private Bank Tax Services Accountant is fiduciary tax compliance. The individual works under general supervision with internal and external clients—including trust administrators, co-trustees, officers, and beneficiaries—to prepare all necessary tax filing requirements for assigned accounts. In conjunction with fiduciary returns (Forms 1099, 1041, and 5227), the accountant also prepares ancillary client returns such as Charitable Entity returns (Forms 990 & 990PF), Individual returns (Forms 1040), and gift tax returns (Forms 709).
The accountant provides tax support to trust officers and assistants in the Investment Advisors division to deliver an excellent customer experience and sustain growth.
- Preparation of Returns and Estimated Tax Payments:
Gather and assimilate data to produce accurate income tax returns; complete returns for assigned accounts on time. - Tax Analysis Review:
Examine trust documents to ensure accurate taxation; monitor and analyze transactions for tax consequences; advise investment officers and account administrators on tax concerns; review client-provided information for estimated tax calculations and generate tax projections; handle correspondence with tax authorities. - Frequent Interaction with Investment Advisors:
Liaise with personal trust and Private Bank teams; participate in new business development. - Tax Research:
Investigate federal, state, and local tax issues; prepare and present internal training on relevant tax topics as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. - Experience:
Internship or co‑operative experience in tax, or prior public or industry accounting experience preferred. - Certification:
Working toward CPA, EA, or MBA preferred. - Technical:
Knowledge of elementary accounting and tax subjects; proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with tax return preparation software preferred. - Skills:
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; professional demeanor; sound judgment and logical/critical thinking.
Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, and temperature variations. Requires extended viewing of the CRT screen.
Compensation & BenefitsThe base salary for this position reflects the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S.; individual salaries vary based on role, skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
