As an Underwriter III within PNC's Commercial Real Estate organization, you will be based in the posted locations listed on this requisition.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Evaluates new CRE loans by analyzing borrower financials, property performance and credit risk
- Works independently with little or no oversight and exercises exception and elevated approval authority
- Prepares loan offerings for all types of transactions at any level of complexity or in management of a portfolio as assigned
- Interacts with internal and external customers, provides recommendations for credit structuring and serves as a subject matter expert for certain asset classes
- Uses independent judgment to identify risks and mitigants, prepares offerings and/or scorecards such as risk ratings by analyzing credit, collateral strength and financial worthiness of loan/transaction parties
- Performs ongoing credit risk management for assigned portfolio if relevant, and may coach or review the work of other underwriters and fill in for manager as required
- Contacts customers and other parties to gather information, clarify inconsistencies, and ensure all external regulatory requirements are identified and confirmed
- Ensures internal policies and procedures are followed and makes recommendations or decisions on credit directly as appropriate
- Applies knowledge of IRS Code Section 42 and 47, equity structures, market research, onsite inspections, market comp analysis, and third‑party or external guidelines
- Knowledge of multifamily and/or student housing, industrial, retail, and hotel asset types and underwriting
- Real estate market analysis, financial modeling, loan documentation skills
Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role with the following competencies and experience.

- Credit analysis and verification, decision making and critical thinking
- Knowledge of underwriting and managing multiple priorities
- Market research, real estate development, practice, and property data analysis
- Real estate sales closings and agreements, regulatory environment in financial services
- Roles at this level typically require a university or college degree with 3+ years of relevant or direct industry experience; certifications are often desired
Base Salary: $55,000.00 – $. Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business, and/or individual performance.
