Mortgage Loan Originator

Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesOverview:
The Mortgage Loan Originator originates mortgage loans by developing and maintaining client referral relationships while leveraging consultative sales skills to assist borrowers in realizing and meeting their financial goals.
- Assist mortgage loan borrowers to determine their needs and recommend the most beneficial loan products, while advising and guiding them throughout the entire loan process
- Review financial information from borrowers pertaining to Refinance, Purchase, Construction/Rehab, Secondary Market loans, FHA, and VA loans
- Maintain an active knowledge base of all GECU’s loan products
- Ensure loans meet current secondary market standards along with GECU portfolio guidelines
- Prepare initial loan disclosures for borrower review in accordance with Federal Regulations
- Monitor loan pipeline daily to ensure required documentation is received in a timely manner
- Maintain working relationships with team members
- Develop relationships with realtors, builders, financial professionals and sales agents to generate referrals for mortgage loans
- Maintain the required NMLS Registration
- Must be detail-oriented and capable of prioritizing work responsibilities in an organized manner
- Engage in continuing education as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must understand and comply with all required federal and state regulations associated with this position.
- High school diploma or GED required
- At minimum, one year of experience in mortgage lending
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and analyze financial information
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
