General Function
Works both independently and within teams to conduct complex data analysis and identify, assess and mitigate financial crimes risk. Executes policies and procedures to meet the bank’s compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards. Assumes leadership responsibilities within a group or team. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined.
Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

- Write accurate and complete reports that are supported by facts.

- Perform required tasks with minimal supervision.
- Lead team meetings or conduct one‑on‑ones with peers or direct reports.
- Understand the impact of organizational changes and assist with communicating those changes.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging issues and risks in the compliance and regulatory environment.
- Contribute to financial crimes policies, procedures, and risk assessments as required.
- Identify areas of process improvement to increase departmental efficiencies.
- Manage projects designed to improve the quality or efficiency of work produced.
- Maintain strong working relationships with all business lines and support groups.
- Prepare and manage communications with business lines, support groups, and external parties to ensure timely receipt of the requested information.
- Conduct complex data analysis and document findings appropriately.

- Provide data and analytical support to business partners.
Responsible for adhering to the reporting and record‑keeping requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti‑Money Laundering rules and regulations, observing economic sanctions by prohibiting transactions as specified by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), following the bank’s customer identification program (CIP) rules, observing all Bank policies and procedures relating to BSA, OFAC, CIP, and related acts, and participation in ongoing related training.

- Five or more years of financial crimes or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of financial crimes trends, typologies, and regulatory requirements.
- In‑depth understanding of the cryptocurrency environment.
- Ability to use specialized software for blockchain analysis and investigations.
- Solid understanding of first‑line operational and organizational structure and Fifth Third Bank products and services.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization in a clear concise manner.
- Sound judgment and ability to apply logical and critical thought processes when developing solutions or recommendations.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi‑task and work under stringent deadlines.
