Scroggins is seeking a Senior Tax Specialist. The tax specialist prepares tax returns for third party clients in a proficient and professional manner. Also performs quality reviews of financial statements prepared by the accounting department. Client service is key for this role.
This is a hybrid position. Following initial onboarding and training in our Cincinnati office, you can work remotely 1-2 days per week and in the office 3-4 days per week.
PRIMARYDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare tax returns of all types-corporation (1120, 1120S), individual, partnership, trust, estate, and gift.
- Prepare work papers related to tax return preparation.
- Review of corporate, individual, trust and estate taxes.
- Conduct Research into tax issues.
- Conduct tax planning with clients.
- Interpret tax code changes.
- Understand and manage tax situations related to self-employment income.
- Build and manage client facing relationships.
- Explain complex tax issues to clients in an understandable way.
- Review of complex financial statements.
- Conduct strategic tax planning.
- Provide guidance to clients on financial issues with tax implications.
- Mentorship of tax preparers and tax specialists.
- Assist Medical Practice Management Consultants with preparation of productivity calculations.
- Assist Medical Practice Management Consultants with tasks tied to year end corporate planning (i.e. closings).
REQUIRED:
- Four-year degree in accounting or a related field
- CPA or equivalent experience
- High attention to detail
- Possess strong analytical skills
- Computer proficiency
- High proficiency in common tax software
- Advanced understanding of IRS filing procedures
- Advanced understanding of tax regulations
- Must maintain confidentiality of all client financial information.
- Must be able to read financial statements and communicate with clients.
- The physical demands of this position are consistent with normal office responsibilities, with long periods of sitting. Some minor lifting of 10-20 lbs. may be needed occasionally.
