Overview
Become a member of our Surgery Center team as a PCA in our Operating Rooms! As a PCA, you will assist with sterile set up, assisting and moving of patients as well as cleaning after each procedure preparing for the next case.
Position Purpose: Assists surgical team during operative procedures. Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation, and passes items as needed to the operating team. Assists in preparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the operating theater. The OR Tech is responsible for the provision of surgical care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse.

- Position reports to:
Clinical Nurse Manager - Full Time Role 4 days - 10 hours per day
- Delivers safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to surgery center policy and procedure.
- Demonstrates ability to respond to patient care and facility needs in an emergency situation.
- Initiates and implements basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations.
- Meets patients and family learning needs as identified in the plan of care.
- Orients the patient and family to the patient care environment, surgery center and unit routines.
- Assists the Registered Nurse with patient discharges.
- Demonstrates continued competence in treating and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
- Provides appropriate interventions related to safety issues.
- Demonstrates knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for the position.
- Follows established policies and procedures with regard to attendance.
- Maintains attendance according to guidelines and policy established by facility; adheres to tardiness policy; provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness; requests scheduled time off per procedure.
- Utilizes time effectively and completes all documentation to ensure availability of accurate and up-to-date information.
- Adheres to facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Demonstrates correct body mechanics; identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
- Completes incident documentation as required by facility policy.
- Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures; practices infection control and standard precautions.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a pristine manner; operates equipment safely and reports unsafe conditions.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor; strives to be professional, courteous, helpful and cooperative.
- Attends and participates in applicable training and development; maintains dress and appearance according to standards.

Certifications:
Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course preferred. - Minimum 1 year experience in PCA preferred, not required. Will provide on the job training.

Work is indoors in a climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to odors, blood and body fluids, infectious disease, chemicals and electrical hazards. Occasional outdoor exposure.
Physical RequirementsAbility to hear and communicate, see clearly, read, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, or feel objects. Ability to climb, pull, push and kneel. Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 lbs. Ability to push a stretcher/wheelchair with a patient. Ability to wear lead apron.
SupervisionMinimal supervision. Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
