Job Description
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) I supports patient care by ensuring comfort and safety, following the model of care at TCH, which emphasizes collaboration between patients, families, and healthcare teams. Care is culturally sensitive and age-appropriate, and all duties are delegated by a Registered Nurse according to Ohio Board of Nursing guidelines.
Responsibilities ClinicalPerform clinical tasks assigned by the RN, adhering to Ohio Board of Nursing delegation guidelines. Maintain patient confidentiality.
Leadership & AccountabilityDemonstrate key behavioral competencies such as effective communication, adaptability, teamwork, and personal accountability.
Environment and SafetyEnsure patient and unit safety.
ComfortProvide patient comfort and hygiene, documenting according to policy.
CommunicationOrient patients and families to the hospital environment and facilitate communication throughout the hospitalization proce
