A Gun Violence Prevention Coordinator develops, implements, and manages community-based programs to reduce violence by connecting local partners (police, schools, health agencies, community groups) with strategies like data analysis, outreach, victim support, policy development, and public education, focusing on root causes and data-driven interventions to create safer environments. Key tasks include coordinating city-wide initiatives, conducting outreach, collecting/analyzing violence data, building stakeholder relationships, and monitoring program outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Build and or maintain collaborative relationships with community partners
  • Attend related trainings conducted by CMWC CEO and Health

    RHYTHMS innovator
  • Adhere to Health

    RHYTHMS for violence prevention protocol when facilitating the program
  • Maintain case notes on Health

    RHYTHMS sessions
  • Run public awareness campaigns and coordinate associated outreach events.
  • Use evidence-based practices such as the Health

    RHYTHMS group empowerment drumming intervention to provide physical, emotional, and mental benefits to teens and families
  • Maintain continuous quality improvement and evaluation plan
  • Collaborate with the psychologist from Lindner Center of Hope on Triple P training for parents
  • Work closely with CMWC’s public allies intern to build relationships in communities with organizations and families
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in social work – master’s (MSW) preferred with 2 years experience
  • Specialized training in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention
