Responsible for the daily operations of a supported living home for persons with developmental disabilities. This includes supervising and training a team of Direct Support Professionals (also known as Positive Behavior Support Technicians) covering all shifts in the home. 24-hour availability to supervise the team of Direct Support Professionals covering shifts in the home.
What you should have for this role: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in working in Human Services or related field. Supervisory and direct-care experience preferred.
Responsibilities- Maintain safety of home environment and cleanliness of home, following VOA policies and procedures for Home Safety.
- Supervise and assist consumers in maintaining wholesome and productive lives with an emphasis on assuring that opportunities are provided for consumers to achieve their vision.
- Perform all training of Direct Support Professionals per mandated curriculum as required by state and VOA policy.
- Perform all other duties as required by the Residential Coordinator.
- Accompany consumers on all scheduled or emergency medical appointments/consultations.
- Attend all Interdisciplinary Team Meetings/Circles of Support as assigned by Residential Coordinator.
- Complete all weekly, monthly and quarterly documentation to ensure compliance with PCISP and state regulations.
- Train all staff to Specific Individualized Training per PCISP - detailed visions, negotiables, non-negotiables, likes, dislikes, fears, etc.
- Plan and coordinate leisure, recreational and social activities.
- Assist consumers in maintaining relationships with family, friends, and guardians.
- Responsible for supervision of staff and assigned consumers. Available via phone or established process in the event of shortages or consumer emergencies.
- Develop staff schedules within budgetary constraints and guidelines to provide staff ratios based on consumer need and approved cost plans.
- Review on an ongoing basis hours worked and authorize pay by signing off approval on timesheets of DSP’s.
- Submit timesheets in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Reconcile scheduled time and actual time worked by each staff member. Participate in weekly determination of overtime use and participate in implementation of plan to alleviate unnecessary use of overtime as dictated by budgets. This will be done in conjunction with the Residential Coordinator.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
- Recommend disciplinary action for staff not meeting satisfactory performance or violating company policies.
- Participate in interviewing and hiring process.
- Available for off-duty call, via phone or other established system, regarding staff or consumer needs.
- Submits weekly report on staff, consumers to Residential Coordinator and Agency Nurse.
- Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) duties as assigned by supervision & PQI committee.
