Home Health Billing & Collection Specialist

Position will be remote but some in‑office hours are possible. Candidate ideally resides in Ohio. Looking for at least 5 years experience in home health billing and knowledge of DDE. Well versed in private pay, all home health payors, strong medical collection background, able to take on new tasks easily. As a Home Health Billing and Collections Specialist you will perform daily billing and collection operations for the Home Health Revenue Cycle Department.

Ensures patient accounts are handled in compliance with Interim Healthcare’s policy and regulatory standards.

• Initiate and maintain complete and accurate patient billing records while maintaining confidentiality to ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal laws. Identify and implement system enhancements related to industry trends to improve overall performance and outcomes.
• Accurate cash posting and balance monies received from insurance plans each month. Track and process all over‑payments/under‑payments to ensure collection of balances owed/received are precise and appropriate. Maintain proper payment of all state/federal revenues to ensure correct rates are paid in accordance with federal regulation.
• Accurately process payments to nursing facilities for patients with Medicaid coordinating all admissions, deaths, bed hold days, transfers, and discharges. Bill all insurance plans for denials and/or collection of payments while maintaining timely filing of all insurance plans.
• Maintain a positive relationship working cooperatively with nursing homes, the health information department, accounts payable department and other providers to maintain quality service, quick response time and ensure accurate payments. These relationships are crucial to developing future referrals.
• Review monthly aging for trouble spots and past‑due accounts and run month‑end billing process and reconciliation to improve cash flow. Monitor and maintain days in AR at or below 60‑90 days. Report any issues to the Revenue Cycle Manager.

• Associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in a related field required or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Minimum 3‑5 years experience in home health billing.
• Recent experience working with popular home health billing software.
• Knowledge of DDE is a must.
