Job Overview

UC Clermont invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Health Information Systems – Educator faculty position beginning August 1, 2025. The Health Information Systems program is fully online, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). It also offers a Healthcare Management Associate Degree, Medical/Biller Coder, and Cancer Registry Management programs. The college is a regional campus located 25 miles east of the University of Cincinnati in Batavia, Ohio, with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 students and offers certificates, transfer programs, technical degrees, and baccalaureate degrees.

Functions
  • Assistant Professor Educator – blended position with faculty and administrative responsibilities.
  • Faculty responsibilities (~2/3 of the workload) include teaching 9 credit hours per semester across two semesters, ongoing professional development and research, and service to the department, college, university, and community.
  • The teaching load may be adjusted to reflect administrative responsibilities, potentially including at least a 3‑credit release per semester.
  • Administrative duties may comprise leadership and support for program staff, oversight of an advisory committee, program assessment, experiential learning oversight, new program development, fulfillment of all accreditation‑related activities, and participation in departmental duties.
  • All candidates must possess the appropriate degree by time of appointment.
  • The position requires teaching health information systems courses covering medical coding, revenue cycle, legal and ethical issues, health administration, data analysis, healthcare technology, and experiential learning.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a closely related field; or a bachelor's in Health Information Management with a Post‑Baccalaureate Certificate in Health Information Management.
  • Current RHIA or RHIT certification; five (5) years of experience practicing HIM in the healthcare industry; and online college‑level teaching experience.
  • U.S. citizenship or valid U.S. green‑card holder; the position does not sponsor visas.
