Job Responsibilities

• Patient/Participant Care – Recognizes and accesses systems and processes within the clinical research environment that affect the research participant experience, acts as a resource to team members, anticipates needs, responds to subtle changes of participants and families, tailors caring practices to individual needs, promotes safety, and demonstrates awareness of potential adverse events.
• Assessment – Assesses participants, clients, and families across a spectrum from uncomplicated to highly complex, recognizes normal and abnormal parameters, develops care plans, prioritizes expected and unanticipated needs, and determines the clinical relevance of study procedures and tests. Involves participants, families, and team members in establishing protocol-specific implementation and adherence goals, demonstrates proficiency in technical skills, and applies critical thinking to make appropriate nursing decisions and address potential problems.
• Compliance – Maintains a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards governing clinical research, serves as a resource to peers, monitors safety and departmental policies, seeks ways to minimize risk, and oversees the approach of participants through clinical studies in accordance with regulatory requirements. Advocates for participants, educates families on study purpose, procedures, benefits, risks, and rights, and ensures the informed consent process is correctly performed.
• Research – Guides others in performing procedures, collecting and analyzing data, and making decisions regarding clinical research care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, care, reassessment, and modification. Ensures proper follow-up of study subjects, evaluates effectiveness of research care delivery, collaborates with investigators to advance study progress, maintains documentation in compliance with established practices, and demonstrates the value of research and evidence-based practice.
• Process Improvement – Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical research conduct, assists peers in acquiring department-specific knowledge and skills, contributes to and coordinates discussions in conferences, committee meetings, in‑services, staff conferences, council activities, seminars, and literature, recommends improvements, and motivates the team to create a positive work environment.
• Self‑directed and leadership – Assumes responsibilities within the team and care delivery system, initiates activities to meet needs, integrates new knowledge into practice, acts as a preceptor, nurtures growth of others, and serves as a front‑line example of extraordinary customer service.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
• Requires clinical license
• Current Ohio RN license
