OHC – Specialists in Cancer and Blood disorders is seeking a medical assistant to join our team at our Mercy West location. As the only independent adult cancer program in the region, we offer Medical, Radiation, Blood and Marrow Transplant, Gynecologic, and Breast Surgical Oncology services. OHC supports a robust cancer research and clinical trials program, neuro‑oncology, cancer genetics specialists and supportive care program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows.
- Perform other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
- Perform phlebotomy and sample collection procedures as needed and as ordered.
- Utilize a laboratory information system (LIS) for QC and patient result management.
- Maintain proper documentation for waived testing quality control, equipment records and maintenance checklists.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and ensure that all supplies are viable before using in patient testing.
- Process orders for lab testing.
- Send specimens to appropriate reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house.
- Operate designated laboratory equipment and perform specimen analysis under regulatory agency guidelines for personnel. Comply with regulatory agency standards. Responsible for performing CLIA Waived or Moderately complexity testing.
- Maintain equipment and work area as directed. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly instrument maintenance as indicated. Identify troubleshooting procedures and call technical services as needed.
- Record proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators, and reagents.
- Comply with safety and quality assurance standards. Properly dispose of hazardous materials. Adhere to all OSHA compliance laws and Universal Precaution procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred. This is an entry level position requiring 0–3 years’ experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Current BCLS…
