MinimumJob Requirements
- High School Degree
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology. We will accept a non‑accredited school of surgical technology if hired prior to 2019
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
- Surgical Technologist certification required
Performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and others in the CVOR. Performs as a leader (updating cards & trays) and a mentor (orienting CSTs & RNs) in the CVOR.
Job Responsibilities- The CVOR team is a small group of high‑performing professionals. Team members must be flexible and able to fulfill on‑call requirements.
- The certified scrub technologist must be able to work in an environment that is at times high stress and fast‑paced while caring for high acuity patients.
- Technical skills are crucial in order to learn surgeon routines and to be able to anticipate surgeon needs.
- Update surgeon preference cards, maintain specialty surgical supplies and instrument trays.
- Mentor new CST team members in orientation and RN team members learning to scrub cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.
