Position: Medical Assistant - Infectious Disease - Full-Time

Job Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant with the required training, education and demonstration of clinical competency performs delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a nurse or licensed physician. The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Patient Care – Provide competent technical and clinical services, assist care providers with procedures and physical exams, prepare patients for examination and treatment. Provide care consistent with family-centered and medical home models, and support culturally competent care.
  • Customer Service – Act as a customer advocate, respond quickly to parent requests, provide education and information to patients and families in a courteous, attentive manner.
  • Collaboration – Work collaboratively with peers, acknowledge others’ skills and contributions, share knowledge to promote a professional work environment.
  • Data Management – Maintain patient files and records per policy, obtain consent and release forms, ensure accurate documentation.
  • Laboratory Work and Testing – Manage specimens per protocols, maintain knowledge of routine testing processes, retrieve and communicate test results as delegated.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a medical assisting program, with no directly related experience, or completion of a formal medical services training program of the U.S. armed forces, or at least 1 year of work experience in a related discipline.
  • Ability to work independently within the Infectious Disease department and provide coverage for International Adoption and Travel services as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professionalism, effective communication, attention to detail.
  • Previous pediatric healthcare experience.
  • Experience administering injections.
  • Strong office skills supporting care coordination.
  • Experience with healthcare/office software (e.g., EPIC, data spreadsheets).
