- Assist the pharmacist in prescription workflow such as
- Registering patients in Pharmacy Software
- Completing prescription intake by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities.
- Adjudicates claims through insurances and completes necessary authorizations for approvals
- Filling prescriptions
- Cashier duties and scheduling deliveries
- Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone;
- Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.
- Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
- Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
- Keeping inventory counts and a clean workstation
- Complies with all federal and state pharmacy laws and regulation pertaining to the pharmacy technicians roles in the practice of pharmacy
- Current and unrestricted Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) License - required
- Current and unrestricted Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Certification
- Understand medical terminology / physician orders
- Problem-solving skills to work with patients and providers
- Customer service skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations, identify drug names and use
