Job Description
UC Health is hiring a PRN Certified Medical Assistant. Function as an integral part of the Clinical office staff where the Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical duties. Responsible for obtaining intake information for a specific patient population, performing tasks and treatments as delegated by licensed personnel, and providing direct patient care as required. Responsible for scheduling tests and procedures ordered by the physician and providing limited patient education and instructions associated with these tests and procedures.

Qualifications- Education:
High School Diploma; graduate of a medical assistant program (minimum required). - License and Certification:
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant from AAMA, NHA, NCCT, NAHP, ARMA, or AMT. - Years of
Experience:
Seven to eleven months of equivalent experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Clear communication with patients of all education levels.
- Calm and effective response in emergency situations.
- Ability to work without close supervision and set own priorities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with electronic health record software.
- Engage in population-appropriate communication, provide clear treatment instructions, involve family/guardians in assessment and care, and respond appropriately to behavioral health concerns.
- Assist in implementation of age-appropriate care for specific patient populations, including direct patient care.
- Obtain vital signs, EKGs, laboratory specimens and other necessary information following medical assistant competencies and universal precautions.
- Assist provider in documenting notes, orders, and prescriptions by setting them up in the Electronic Medical Record; pending provider review.
- Prepare and maintain the clinic area, including cleaning, stocking, and securing equipment.
- Return routine patient telephone calls (e.g., prescription refills, pre-certification) with appropriate documentation.
- Coordinate ancillary services such as diagnostic testing, imaging, hospital procedures, admissions, and record acquisition.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor and adhere to patient confidentiality and legal regulations.
- Follow workplace standards and quality measures, ensuring a safe, secure, and healthy environment.
- Answer telephones and greeting patients.
- Update and file patient medical records; code and fill insurance forms.
- Schedule appointments and arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
- Handle correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.
