UC Health is hiring a full-time Medication History/Reconciliation Certified Pharmacy Technician in the Inpatient Pharmacy at University of Cincinnati’s Medical Center. We are also offering a $2000 sign-on Bonus!

Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed by only a registered pharmacist. In addition to responsibilities for a Tech I, Pharmacy Technician II demonstrates a high level of initiative and motivation along with competency in a specialized area(s) of the department.

This position is for medication history/reconciliation technicians who will be joining a growing team of one pharmacist and three technicians. This team is devoted to collecting information from patients, their families/surrogates, pharmacies, doctors' offices, and beyond to ensure accurate admission and discharge medication reconciliations are performed. These roles are vital in enhancing patient safety and provide excellent opportunities for these technicians to interface with and support our patients and community.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Recently certified, licensed or graduated within past 12 months, minimum required. Three to five years equivalent experience, minimum required.
  • License and Certification:
    Current pharmacy technician registration and certification that is recognized by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy is required. Years of

    Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods; work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; set priorities and solve problems; respond quickly to emergency requests; communicate effectively (orally and in writing), and assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by the organization.

Range

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $19.42/hr and $27.31/hr the actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.

Responsibilities
  • Procures and distributes medication orders per prescriber request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Fills physician orders, medication kits, medication carts, and stock requisitions accurately;
    Replenishes medications in emergency drug containers and floor stock areas accurately;
    Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques;
