Ophthalmic Assistant II, Full-Time, First Shift
We are seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant/Scribe II to assist in preventing, detecting, diagnosing, and managing conditions that interfere with sight. The role focuses on diagnosis and documentation of general eye health history under the supervision of certified providers, real‑time patient information entry into electronic health records, and other administrative tasks.

Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED (Minimum required)
- 3 – 5 Years equivalent experience (Minimum required)
- Engage in population‑appropriate communication and provide clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
- Involve family/guardian in assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care.
- Identify physical limitations and deploy interventions when necessary.
- Respond appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
- Interpret population‑related data and plan care accordingly.
- Recognize and respond to different needs related to unique psychological needs or religious/cultural norms.
- Perform treatments, administer medication or operate equipment safely.
- Recognize and respond to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
- Obtain vital signs, specimens, and other necessary information for patient evaluation.
- Administer ophthalmic dilating eye drops and assist physician with invasive procedures.
- Perform visual acuity testing (Snellen, near, color vision) and other ophthalmic testing like OCT, Optos, biometry, topography, autorefraction, IOP, visual field.
- Greet patients, answer telephones, schedule appointments, update and file patient records.
- Assist with patient flow through clinic department and coordinate ancillary services.
- Maintain clinic area, clean and stock examination rooms, set up computer equipment.
- Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
- Monitor Epic inbox and act upon messages.
- Scribe patient exams in electronic health record, review chart notes for accuracy, assist with notes, orders, prescriptions.
- Return routine patient telephone calls as directed and document actions taken.
- Act as resource person for new personnel and temporary staff.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Accept and complete other duties assigned by manager.
