Peer Support Specialist

Provides support, guidance, and mentorship to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. Drawing from their own lived experience, help clients navigate recovery resources, develop coping strategies, and connect with support networks. Participate in outreach to community partners to help coordinate services for clients to help sustain sobriety. Maintain regular contact with clients to monitor and assess progress.

Manage a caseload of peers in the community or program settings. Track and assess progress as determined by program Assist peers in developing treatment plans that personalize recovery goals. Efficiently operate personal computer to enter, edit and/or retrieve data using agency electronic health record Assist clients in accessing community resources, including, but not limited to: food, clothing, supportive housing, Medicaid, job readiness and/or placement, public assistance, etc.

Facilitate site-based daily support/peer groups Visit, support and transport clients as needed as determined by program Prepare documentation in compliance with contract, regulatory and Agency requirements Other duties as assigned

Knowledge of substance use disorders and community resources to assist with maintaining sobriety Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills Ability to operate personal computer to enter, edit and/or retrieve data and to produce reports and correspondence as necessary Beginner level problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task while prioritizing tasks

High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Must be in recovery for minimum 12 months; preferably 2 years Peer Support Specialist certification or ability to obtain within first three months of employment A valid driver's license and current auto insurance may be required

Positional:
Driving in accordance with job duties assigned. Infrequent standing and walking. Constant sitting. Gross Mobility:
Rare climbing, or crawling. Infrequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Frequent to constant reaching, handling and fingering. Sensory:
Rare tasting/smelling. Infrequent use of color vision. Occasional use of far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision. Frequent use of near and midrange visual acuity, and visual accommodation. Frequent to constant talking and listening.
