Position SummaryThe Activity Assistant will help plan, organize, coordinate, and lead engaging activities designed to enhance the physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual well‑being of our residents. This role works closely with the Activities Director and interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide a vibrant and rewarding resident experience.
Activity Assistant Responsibilities- Lead and assist with daily resident activities, events, and recreation programs
- Facilitate group and one-on-one activities for residents with various cognitive and physical abilities
- Promote resident participation in social, recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities
- Create flyers, newsletters, bulletin boards, and promotional materials
- Assist with activity calendar development and event planning
- Shop for activity supplies and maintain inventory
- Encourage resident engagement and community involvement
- Support holiday celebrations, themed events, outings, and special programs
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and staff
- Assist with evening and weekend activities as scheduled
- Help create a fun, welcoming, and person-centered environment
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and strong customer service mindset
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassion, patience, and respect for the elderly population
- Previous experience as an Activity Assistant, Activity Aide, Recreation Aide, Recreation Assistant, Activities Coordinator, Resident Engagement Assistant, or Senior Activities Assistant
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, healthcare, nursing home, assisted living, memory care, or senior living
- Experience creating activity calendars, flyers, and resident programming
- Flexible part-time schedule (1-2 days per week)
