Job Overview

Position to provide phlebotomy and other laboratory support functions in the Clinical Laboratory department of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents.

Expected Starting Pay Range: $18.16 - $22.25. Starting pay based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (shift, on‑call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

Responsibilities
  • Perform approved specimen collection procedures, point‑of‑care testing services and processing.
  • Provide education, information and support to patients and families concerning tests and specimen acquisition.
  • Assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research.
  • Act as patient advocate and meet patient/family needs. Provide information and emotional support as needed.
  • Maintain a customer focus, communicate courteously and attentively, and attend promptly to requests and concerns.
  • Collaborate cooperatively with others, share knowledge, and promote a positive and professional work environment.
  • Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, conferences, meetings, in‑services, networking, and literature.
  • Attend all mandatory CCHMC training sessions and implement obtained knowledge/skills into work and the organization.
  • Understand and comply with applicable policies, guidelines, regulations, and accreditation standards. Document compliance and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of phlebotomy or other relevant clinical lab specimen collection experience OR completion of a phlebotomy or medical assistant program.
  • Preferred:
    Phlebotomy or medical assistant certification.
