Job Summary
The Southwest Hub Director provides highly confidential policy, education, program and administrative support for the Mental Health & Addition Advocacy Coalition (MHAC) and its Southwest (SWO) Hub. Additionally, the Director is responsible for member recruitment and retention in the SWO Hub region. This full-time position will be located at the SWO Hub office.
Job SummaryThe Southwest Hub Director provides highly confidential policy, education, program and administrative support for the Mental Health & Addition Advocacy Coalition (MHAC) and its Southwest (SWO) Hub. Additionally, the Director is responsible for member recruitment and retention in the SWO Hub region. This full-time position will be located at the SWO Hub office.
Job Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience required.
- Knowledge of government systems and budgets.
- Experience working with grassroots organizing campaigns, coalition organization, or advocacy/ public policy initiatives preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health or healthcare issues.
- Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Social media skills a plus.
- Frequent travel within SWO Hub (Brown, Butler, Clinton, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties) and some travel within the rest of Ohio required.
- Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Job Duties &Responsibilities
- Provides programmatic, educational, policy, and administrative support to the MHAC and the SWO Steering Committee.
- Develops and implements local advocacy agenda, including researching and developing written analyses of local behavioral health funding and public policy matters.
- Works with members, collaborators, community partners, and contractors on public policy issues and projects impacting behavioral health and furthering the MHAC’s mission.
- Responsible for member identification, recruitment, and retention in SWO Hub region.
- Assists with grant writing and reporting, as applicable to SWO Hub activities.
- Represents MHAC SWO Hub at community meetings.
- Assists in creation of educational/communications content. Responsible for distribution of materials in SWO Hub region.
- Facilitates, prepares, and staffs SWO Steering Committee meetings, SWO Policy & Advocacy Committee meetings, MHAC membership meetings, and SWO events.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and other MHAC team members and contractors, educate local public officials, stakeholders, and members on the local and state advocacy agendas
