The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology is recruiting for a full-time Clinical Research Professional for Classical Hematology under the supervision of Dr. Robert Means. This individual will work collaboratively on several longitudinal cohort studies/registries for sickle cell disease (SCD) and bleeding disorders. In addition, the individual will work with faculty members on investigator-initiated observational studies.

NOTE:

This position does not qualify for Visa sponsorship.

Essential Functions

* Screen patients for inclusion in Classical Hematology studies using pre-determined criteria.

* Contact and approach potential patients for study participation.

* Prepare biospecimen collection supplies.

Coordinate collection, documentation, transportation, and shipment of research biospecimens as needed.

* Provide informed consent and enroll patients on Classical Hematology studies

* Complete the NIH Toolbox with Dr. Kristine Karkoska, one faculty member, Cognition Battery and coordinate brain MRI study dates for her brain MRI study in individuals with SCD.

* Maintain the American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network (ATHN) Dataset - primarily responsible for entering patient data for all individuals with clotting and bleeding disorders seen in the clinic throughout the year.

* Complete (bi) annual study visits for ATHN TRANSCENDS longitudinal cohort study and Globin Research Network for Data and Discovery (GRNDaD) and ASH Data Hub patient registries.

* Ensure compliance with contract principles, federal regulations, laws, and the University of Cincinnati/UC Physicians Company, policy and operating procedures.

Required Education

* Bachelor's Degree must be in a related field.

* Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

* One (1) year of related experience.

* Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
