The University of Cincinnati (UC), Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Mental Health Clinician (Staff Clinician 1 – Athletics) to provide counseling services for UC varsity student-athletes. Reporting to the Associate AD for Sports Psychology and Wellness and under the oversight of the Executive Director of Health and Wellness, responsibilities include potential diagnosis and treatment of patients, education, and collaboration with staff, and delivery of presentations to the UC Athletics community while following all professional association standards, state and federal laws, university, conference and NCAA policies and regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Provide psychotherapeutic assessment and interventions to assist student-athletes to cope with mental health disorders, relationship problems, and related environmental, educational, and vocational concerns.
- Identify present and potential student-athlete psychosocial problems and implement plans for problem resolution.
- Maintain quality documentation for medical records which may include (but not limited to): assessment, consult notes, consents, and releases of information in accordance with regulatory bodies.
- Consult with supervisor and other medical specialists to enhance student-athlete outcomes.
- Keep abreast of developments in professional field.
- Deliver psycho-educational programming to student-athletes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary student-athlete care conferences and team meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the student-athlete care team to ensure comprehensive care.
- May participate in staff meetings, in-services, continuing education programs, and research activities.
- Attend individual or group supervision weekly and/or as scheduled by supervisor.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Certifications:
Pre-licensed and actively working towards license as a Social Worker (LSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). If from out of state, must obtain Ohio licensure or Ohio pre-license within 2 months of start date or as soon as possible. Must be able to maintain all credentialing requirements.
Additional Qualifications Considered:
Licensed in the State of Ohio as a Social Worker (LSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).
