Lab Assistant

The University of Cincinnati invites applications for a full-time Lab Assistant in the Hoxworth Components Manufacturing Laboratory. This role supports the preparation, labeling, and handling of blood components and related specimens in a regulated academic medical environment. The Lab Assistant will operate and maintain basic lab equipment, perform accurate data entry in laboratory systems, and follow strict safety and quality protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, labeling, and processing of blood components and laboratory specimens per established protocols
• Operate, clean, and maintain basic laboratory equipment and maintain accurate logs
• Perform data entry, verify orders, and maintain detailed records in laboratory information systems
• Follow all safety, biohazard, and quality control procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
• Support senior technologists with routine testing, inventory, and supply management
• Communicate effectively with lab staff, clinicians, and other UC departments to coordinate workflows
• Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives within the Components Manufacturing Laboratory
