QualificationsEducation and Experience Requirements
- Education:
High school diploma or GED minimum required. Successful passage of 80 hours of State Tested Nurse Aide Training OR 40 hours of Acute Medical-Surgical Training, Specialty Training and Hospital Specific Training; OR a student from an NLN accredited RN program having successfully completed one Medical-Surgical rotation or another acute rotation, preferred. Years of
Experience:
No experience required. Operating Room experience preferred. - Required
Certifications:
BLS certification- within 60 days of hire. Preferred: STNA.

Responsibilities- Engages in population appropriate communication.
- Performs aspects of clinical care as assigned or delegated by the RN. All clinical procedures will be done under the supervision of an RN who has assessed the patient and determined appropriate tasks for delegation. Makes observations as directed by RN and reports deviation to RN.
- Performs scrub duties for obstetrical surgical cases, demonstrates knowledge of care and use of all equipment, instruments and supplies used for surgical procedures.
- Assists with vaginal deliveries (places legs in stirrups, scrubs perineum, and drapes patient.
- Weighs patient: standing or bed weight.
- Performs bedside glucose finger sticks.
- Performs Q.C. on lab instruments.
- Communicate with OB Manager on supply chain issues
- Incorporates patient safety and comfort to transport patients to/from other areas as directed; provides backup transport services to any department and/or other unit and/or assists with discharging patients home.
- Familiar with OB supplies and ensures units have required stock to maintain patient safety
- Assists in maintaining a clutter-free patient room and ensures necessary supplies and equipment are available and acceptable.
- Maintains required competencies and completes hospital-required training.
