The Therapeutic Support Specialist plays an essential role in creating a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for children receiving behavioral health services. This position provides daily supervision, engagement, and support while helping clients develop social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental skills.
The Specialist works closely with clinical and program leadership to implement individualized treatment and behavioral support plans, utilize evidence-based practices, respond to crisis situations, and promote a positive treatment environment. This role also provides opportunities to support staff development through coaching, skill-building, and modeling effective behavioral interventions.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field , or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in child-serving systems required .
- Experience in day treatment, partial hospitalization, inpatient, or other behavioral health settings strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, and crisis-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children experiencing behavioral and emotional challenges.
- Manage the treatment milieu and actively engage clients throughout the program day.
- Provide support for each client's therapeutic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP) and Behavioral Support Plans (BSP).
- Utilize evidence-based teaching procedures and program motivation systems.
- Facilitate classroom and program meetings that encourage client participation and engagement.
- Provide consistent supervision, monitoring, and support to maintain client safety.
- Demonstrate effective use of behavior modification strategies, crisis intervention, and milieu management techniques.
- Coach and support staff through modeling, skill-building, and feedback as needed.
- Provide coverage for Mental Health Group Specialists and facilitate social-emotional learning (SEL) groups when appropriate.
- Participate in team meetings, debriefings , and treatment planning discussions.
- Collaborate with clinical, educational, and program staff to support client goals.
- Maintain appropriate communication with guardians, school districts, and community providers.
- Support campus-wide programming and contribute to a safe, respectful, and professional environment.
- Assist with program-wide administrative and operational responsibilities.
- Provide orientation and support for newly enrolled clients.
- Follow established daily schedules, routines, and program structures.
- Document client services, interactions, and incidents in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Submit progress notes and complete incident reports promptly.
- Manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and communicate program needs and concerns to leadership.
- Collaborate with team members to evaluate and adjust ISP/BSP plans as needed.
- Receive and apply feedback from leadership and experienced staff.
- Participate in professional development, training, and ongoing skill-building opportunities.
- Utilize crisis intervention strategies, including de-escalation and physical restraint techniques when required to maintain safety.
- Complete and maintain CPI, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
- Follow HIPAA requirements, privacy standards, and all applicable agency and regulatory requirements.
