Job Description
UC Health is hiring a full-time Anesthesia Technician Assistant for the anesthesia department for second shift at UC Medical Center. Under licensed Anesthesia providers, the Anesthesia Technician Assistant assists in the physiological monitoring of patients and the preparation of drugs, fluids, anesthesia and equipment ancillary to operative intervention or other procedures requiring anesthesia set up. Also operate and maintain patient care monitors and anesthesia equipment.

Qualifications- High school diploma or GED.
- 6 months of health care experience required. Basic knowledge of anesthesia gas machine.

ResponsibilitiesPATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY)
- Engages in population appropriate communication.
- Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
- Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
- Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
- Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
- Assists the licensed anesthesia providers in clinical settings such as; the Operating Room (OR), obstetrics suite (OB), Interventional and/or Diagnostic Radiology, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cath Lab, Emergency Room (ER), Endoscopy, Dental suites, Ambulatory Surgery suites, animal and research laboratories, in-house Rapid Response and code situations.
- Will perform the set-ups, operation and troubleshooting of anesthesia delivery systems, monitors, and ancillary devices.
- The anesthesia technicians will maintain a sufficient inventory of all equipment and supplies in carts and workroom.
- Will perform duties under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider and/or CRNA.
- Will provide support for route surgical cases by preparation and maintenance of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia.
- Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, stocks, orders and maintains the routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Will perform speed and timeliness in all duties particularly in preparation for emergencies and traumas.
- Participates in departmental Quality Improvement and Risk Management activities.
